Series of Bomb Blasts Rock Bangalore City

Bangalore BlastsSeries of Bomb Blasts hit Indian IT city of Bangalore (Bengaluru) on Friday afternoon. The number of blasts is said to be 3 to 7, rocking the city. Dozens of people were believed to be injured in the explosions, that caused panic in the city.

The Casualties

1 killed (said to be a woman) and around 15 people injured.

All the Injured have been taken to Mallya Hospital.

The Blasts

The blasts took place near crowded areas and bus stations.

Some blasts occurred around the Bosch building (from direct information).

The first blast took place at Raja Ram Mohan Rai circle at around 1320 hrs IST.

The explosions shook Sirjapur Road, Nayandhalli, Madiwala checkpost, Adigudi, Rajaram and Raja Ram Mohan Rai Circle.

Bomb disposal squads have been rushed to the blast sites and telephone network have been jammed to stop the spread of rumours.

The nature of the blasts was not known and the police had rushed bomb squads and additional security to the areas.

According to the police gelatin sticks were used in the blasts.

The Explanations

Bangalore is one of India's main centres of outsourcing and a site for many foreign companies operating in India.

Bangalore Police Commissioner Shankar M Bidari said, "We are monitoring the situation and request all residents to continue with their normal routine. The bomb squad and explosives experts are on the spot. We will deal with the situation."

The NDTV report citing police sources mentioned that it was a well-coordinated terrorist attack in the city, considered India's IT capital.

Several Indian cities have been hit by serial blasts in recent months. The attacks that have been blamed on Islamic militants.
