DZone Button

You can place a DZone button on your website. Check it out...

But, lets tweak it a bit so that it appears below each blog post in Blogger.

1. Find your template

Find out whether you are using Classic Template or Layout. Find this in the HTML source <data:post.body>. If found, you are using Layout. I have not tried Classic Template.

2. Backup your layout

Go to Layout -> Edit HTML. Click on Download Full Template. Save it giving some name to remember what you are about to do.

3. Expand Widgets

Check the box namd Expand Widget Templates.

4. Lets start

If you are using Layout, just follow the instructions.

5. Locating footer

Find this piece of code...

<p class='post-footer-line post-footer-line-3'/>

Your are going to place the new code just below this line.

6. Placing the Code

Paste the code.

<div>
<!-- DZone BEGIN -->
<script type='text/javascript'>var dzone_url = '<data:post.url/>';</script>
<script type='text/javascript'>var dzone_title = '<data:post.title/>';</script>
<script type='text/javascript'>var dzone_blurb = '[description]';</script>
<script type='text/javascript'>var dzone_style = '2';</script>
<script language='javascript' src='http://widgets.dzone.com/widgets/zoneit.js'/>
<!-- DZone BEGIN -->
</div>

This is using the Style 2 (Wide), just change the dzone='2' to 1 to use Style 1 (Tall). Change [description] to what you want to show up as default description for a post (the user can give the description during Submit).

6. SAVE TEMPLATE

Save the template.

FINISHED !!!

Now the DZone button will appear below each of your Blogger post.

A word of Caution!

DZone is for developers, if you have posts not related to programming in your Blog, then users may submit those posts also to DZone.
