Using UNIX CLI in Windows

Windows + UNIX CLI
I have always wanted to have the power of Unix CLI in my Windows command prompt. Isn't it nice? Yeah, it is possible :)

I came across this excellent post...

In your Windows box, just do these simple steps to have it done...

1. Download CoreUtils package from sourceforge

2. Install the Package

3. Add the path of the Intalled package to your path environment variable (in System Properties->Advanced->Environment Variables). If you installed to C:\GnuWin32, then add path C:\GnuWin32\bin.

4. There is no step 4 :)

Now you can execute Unix commands from your couch (the Command prompt) :D
